Antisemitism And Anti-Zionism

Any anti-Zionist position that does not base itself on the general application of a rule or principle held to be valid for all states, and which rejects the existence of Israel and no other state is necessarily antisemitic. Israel is the product and realization of Jewish nationalism, no more and no less a logical, justifiable or legitimate nationalism than that of the Armenians, the Turks or the Moroccans. One cannot regard Jews as truly equal to the rest of humanity while granting them all rights but one, that of national self-determination, or, if allowing them the right to self-determination, demanding that it be realized to a higher standard than that demanded of other groups. The latter point is especially true if attempts are made to justify it on the basis of certain cultural characteristics alleged to be typical of Jews or the history of persecution suffered by Jews.

Isaías Carrasco

In a country which has experienced fully democratic government for the last thirty years, where the cultural, linguistic and political rights of citizens are protected by law as well or better than they are anywhere in the world, Isaías Carrasco, a 42 year old married man, a father of three children, was murdered with five pistol shots in the back as he was leaving his home to go to work this morning.

Why? Because he was a member of the PSOE and had served as a local councillor from 2003 to 2007. Being elected by his fellow citizens to represent them as a member of a social democratic party and opposing their blood and soil nationalism was enough to earn him a death sentence from the fascist scum that is ETA.

I hope Zapatero wins the general election in Spain on Sunday and I also hope that has learned his lesson about the price of dallying with these people. No democratic government of Spain could ever offer them anything that would sate them, there would always be fresh demands. There is no political solution possible to the problem of ETA, all those radical Basque nationalists who were open to being dissuaded from violence have already entered the democratic fold. There is nothing for it now, nor has there been for some time, but patience, steadfastness and adherence to the rule of law.
