Juan Manuel Muñoz, in an article about the current spike in tension between Israel and Iran, reels off a list of Israel’s current military assets that might come in handy in the event of armed conflict between the two countries and adds that
the government of Ehud Olmert is putting pressure on the United States to bring forward delivery of the ultra-modern F35 fighter bomber.
It’s true that there has been talk of Israel getting the F35 as much as two years earlier than planned, but that would be in 2012 instead of 2014. And even after the first planes are delivered it’ll take months for the first squadron equipped with them to become operational.
So the F35’s role in any conflict that should break out between Iran and Israel in the next four years or so will be nil, zilch, nada, non-existent. Not the impression you’d get from reading Muñoz’s piece.
