The Population of Ireland

Ireland has an unusual demographic history.  From the Famine until well into the 1960s the number of people living in Ireland declined steadily while during the same period most European countries saw their populations rise. Now the boot’s on the other foot. While other European states worry about falling birth rates and who is going to do the work and pay taxes in Ireland the population is growing and it’s staying young. Who’d have though it?
